What's in it for YOU?
Achievement of Advanced Leader (AL) goals
Sharing, teaching, giving opportunities
Speaking opportunities
Networking opportunities
The Role of a Sponsor
The sponsor is responsible for the actual organization of the new club, including selling the new club idea to
prospective members, assisting in the establishment of regular meetings, handling the paperwork and helping to
plan the charter presentation. The commitment for a Sponsor is 3 months.
After that point, the sponsor's responsibilities end and the mentor takes over. Each new club may have up to two
sponsors. Sponsors receive a certificate when the club gets its charter and can receive credit toward the Advanced
Leader award.
The Role of a Mentor
New Club Mentors are experienced Toastmasters who actually join the new club, providing guidance during its first
6-12 months. Working side by side with the new Toastmasters, the mentor shows them how to fulfill meeting roles
and helps new officers perform their duties. The District Governor appoints one or two mentors for the new club.
Like the sponsor, the mentor also receives a certificate when the club receives its charter. Mentors also receive
Advanced Leader (AL) credit for fulfilling their roles satisfactorily.
The Demonstration
Meeting
Show interested people how Toastmasters works. This special abbreviated program shows prospective members or company
sponsors how a club meeting is conducted and what the Toastmasters program can do for them.
You don't need to be an expert speaker to help run a demonstration meeting. You could always volunteer to be the
timer! Actually, less-experienced Toastmasters make good speakers for demonstration meetings because they show
you can benefit from Toastmasters even if you're not a polished orator.

Club Coach/Mentor/Sponsor Chair
Sought
The District 5 Club
Coaching, Mentoring, and Sponsoring program is tremendously important to help build new clubs and return struggling
clubs to Distinguished Club status. Because of its importance, District 5 has created a new position: Coach/Mentor/Sponsor
Chair. As the Chair you will seek out members throughout the District who wish to be Club Coaches, Mentors, and
Sponsors, provide them with information about the roles, match them up with clubs, and check that assignments are
going well. Experience as a Coach, Mentor, or Sponsor is not necessary but is helpful. If you would like to serve
as the first District 5 Coach/Mentor/Sponsor Chair please email Lieutenant Governor of Marketing Mark Kramer at
mark.kramer@baesystems.com.
Help A Club By Serving As A Club Coach
Club Coaches are very
special members of Toastmasters. They help clubs with 12 or fewer members achieve Distinguished Club status! The
Club Coach program matches low membership clubs with a coach who assists them in building membership and attaining
Distinguished Club status. We'll provide you with information and suggestions to help you evaluate and rebuild
the club. And you don't have to do it alone; we can team you with another Toastmaster. Any Toastmaster may qualify
to serve as a Coach of any club that they are not a member of (but you may join the club after your assignment
is complete). Current assignments last until June 30, 2008 if the club becomes Distinguished, or until June 30,
2009. Not only will you receive the satisfaction of knowing that you helped a low membership club return to Distinguished
status but you will also receive a pin upon assignment, credit towards Advanced Leader/Silver, and a certificate
documenting your successful completion as a Club Coach. Interested? Send an email to Lieutenant Governor of Marketing
Mark Kramer at mark.kramer@baesystems.com. Help a club by serving as a Club Coach!
USE YOUR EXPERIENCE TO HELP A NEW CLUB GET OFF TO THE RIGHT START
New clubs rely on
the advice and knowledge of experienced Toastmasters to help them start off on the right path. These helpful Toastmasters
are called Club Sponsors and Club Mentors. As a Club Sponsor, you'll have the honor to help organize a new club,
set up regular club meetings, complete the paperwork, and plan the charter celebration. As a Club Mentor, you'll
share your experience with the club to help their officers learn their roles, assist club members in their regular
club meetings roles, explain the importance of the Distinguished Club Program, and advise and tutor the club. We'll
provide you with information and suggestions to help you in each of these roles. Club Sponsors remain with the
club through the chartering ceremony while Club Mentors continue to assist the club for its first six months. We
typically assign one Club Sponsor and two Club Mentors to each new club. Upon successful completion as a Club Sponsor
or Club Mentor you receive credit towards your Advanced Leader/Silver. Like the sound of Club Sponsor or Club Mentor?

as a Club Coach!
